AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT ON STACIE RAMEY AND AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT ON LYNNETTE AUSTIN!

Yes, two authors for the price of one! (Although we don't really charge anything so there you go).

Today let's welcome, Lynnette and Stacie to the blog! Welcome ladies!

LYNNETTE AUSTIN

 Author Bio:
I love to stand on the beach when a storm is brewing and watch the waves crash ashore. I love, love, love chocolate frozen custard, a bargain, anything by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, and sitting in a Starbucks reading and enjoying a skinny peppermint mocha. I grew up in Pennsylvania, accepted my first teaching job in New York, moved to wonderful Wyoming, then to sunny Florida. Now, I spend my days writing and split my time between the beaches of Florida and the mountains of northern Georgia. I tend to think of myself as a homebody, but I guess I must have a little vagabond in me because I feel at home and happy almost anywhere.

The Best Laid Wedding Plans blurb:
Reunited lovers, a crumbling plantation, and a big dream—The Best Laid Wedding Plans!

Georgia’s Low Country. Soft, summer nights, sweet tea sippin’ on back porches, fireflies twinklin’, and those Southern men with slow drawls and slower hands. Jenni Beth knows she can turn crumbling Magnolia House into a wedding destination, but when Cole, once the love of her life, returns, old hurts resurface.
Jenni Beth Beaumont left her broken heart behind when she took her dream job in Savannah. But after her brother's death, she returns home to help mend her parents' hearts as well as restore their beautiful but crumbling antebellum mansion. New dreams take shape as Jenni Beth sets to work replacing floors and fixing pipes to convert the family homestead into the perfect wedding destination. However, some folks in their small Southern town are determined to see her fail.
Cole Bryson was once the love of Jenni Beth's life, but the charming architectural salvager has plans of his own for the Beaumont family home. As the two butt heads, old turmoil is brought to the surface. Cole and Jenni Beth will have to work through some painful memories and tough realities before they can set their pasts aside and have a second chance at their own happily ever after.

STACIE RAMEY

Stacie Ramey learned to read at a very early age to escape the endless tormenting from her older siblings. Where the Wild Things Are was her first favorite book and she swore she’d only marry a man who could prove he had rumpus in his heart!
She attended the University of Florida, where she majored in communication sciences, and Penn State where she received a Master of Science degree in Speech Pathology. She also met her future husband at Penn State, who surprised her one day with all of the stuffed Wild Things’ characters, proving his worth.
She currently works with high school aged Autistic kids, introducing them to the literary worlds she grew up loving. When she’s not working or writing, she engages in Netflix wars with her children or beats her husband in Scrabble, all while watching the Florida Gators and Penn State Nittany Lions play (Go Gators).
She lives in Florida with her husband, children, and rescue dogs.
Her debut young adult novel THE SISTER PACT was released November 3, 2015 (Sourcebooks Fire).

THE SISTER PACT

Her parents hover. Her friends try to support her. And Nick, sweet Nick, keeps calling and flirting. Their sympathy only intensifies her grief.
But the more she clings to Leah, the more secrets surface. Allie's not sure which is more distressing: discovering the truth behind her sister's death or facing her new reality without her.

AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT ON: LISA BROWN ROBERTS

Welcome, Lisa!

Lisa Brown Roberts still hasn't recovered from the teenage trauma of nearly tweezing off both eyebrows and having to pencil them in for an entire school year. This and other angst-filled memories inspire her to write YA books about navigating life's painful and funny dramas, and falling in love along the way.

Her almost forever home is Colorado, though she occasionally pines for the days when she lived within walking distance of the Pacific Ocean. Her house is full of books, boys, several four-legged prima donnas, and lots of laughter.

Lisa loves connecting with readers on social media:

Playing the Player blurb:

Trina Clemons needed the money. Why else would she – the most organized, prepared student in school – spend the summer as a nanny and partner with the biggest slacker ever? Now she’s ready to tackle nannyhood with her big binder of research and schedules. Just don’t ask her about the secret job of “fixing” the bad habits of a certain high school player…

Slade Edmunds prefers easy hook-ups, and Trina is definitely not his type. She’s all structure and rules, while Slade wants to just have fun. Fortunately, Trina has no idea about the bet Slade made with his best friend that he can totally get her to unwind by the end of summer…

Then the weirdest thing happens. There’s chemistry. A lot of it.
But nothing gets between a boy and a girl like a big, fat secret…

JULIE CROSS:

I'm the International Bestselling author of the Tempest series, a young adult science fiction trilogy which includes Tempest, Vortex, and the final installment, Timestorm. I'm also the author of the Letters to Nowhere series, a mature young adult romance set in the world of elite gymnastics, as well as several forthcoming young adult and new adult novels with publishers like Entangled, Sourcebooks, HarperCollins, Random House, and St. Martin's Press/Thomas Dunne Books. I live in Central Illinois with my husband and three children. I'm a former gymnast, longtime gymnastics fan, coach, and former Gymnastics Program Director with the YMCA. I'm a lover of books, devouring several novels a week, especially in the young adult and new adult genres. Outside of my reading and writing credibility, I'm a committed--but not talented--long distance runner, creator of imaginary beach vacations, Midwest bipolar weather survivor, expired CPR certification card holder, as well as a ponytail and gym shoe addict.

MARK PERINI:
Mark Perini began his career as an international fashion model ten years ago, while simultaneously obtaining a business degree from Seton Hall University. Turns out fashion's hurry-up-and-wait mentality lends itself quite well to writing. Mark is now a New York City based author, and Halfway Perfect is his first young adult novel. He is also a featured author in the New Adult anthology, Fifty First Times.

When he's not working, Mark's traveling the world. He's made a blood pact with friends to see all seven ancient wonders of the world before he's thirty. Four down three to go.

AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT ON: CHANTELE SEDGWICK

Today’s spotlight is on Chantele Sedgwick who writes young adult. Her latest book is LOVE, LUCAS, it released on May 5, 2015.

Her agent is Nicole Resciniti of the Seymour Agency.

Chantele Sedgwick is a young adult author, harpist, and major book nerd. She loves happy endings, Kit Kats, and (judging by her bookshelves) buying way too many books. She is the author of Not Your Average Fairy Tale and Not Your Average Happy Ending. She resides in Roy, Utah, with her husband and four children.

LOVE, LUCAS book blurb: When Oakley Nelson loses her older brother, Lucas, to cancer, she thinks she’ll never recover. Between her parents’ arguing and the battle she’s fighting with depression, she feels nothing inside but a hollow emptiness. When Mom suggests they spend a few months in California with Aunt Jo, Oakley isn’t sure a change of scenery will alter anything, but she’s willing to give it a try.

In California, Oakley discovers a sort of safety and freedom in Aunt Jo’s beach house. Once they’re settled, Mom hands her a notebook full of letters addressed to her—from Lucas. As Oakley reads one each day, she realizes how much he loved her, and each letter challenges her to be better and to continue to enjoy her life. He wants her to move on.

If only it were that easy.

But then a surfer named Carson comes into her life, and Oakley is blindsided. He makes her feel again. As she lets him in, she is surprised by how much she cares for him, and that’s when things get complicated. How can she fall in love and be happy when Lucas never got the chance to do those very same things?

With her brother’s dying words as guidance, Oakley knows she must learn to listen and trust again. But will she have to leave the past behind to find happiness in the future?

SPOTLIGHT ON: KATHLEEN S. ALLEN

SPOTLIGHT ON:

Kathleen S. Allen-Literary Assistant

Greetings All,

This week’s spotlight is on, well, me. I’m the newest addition to the Seymour Agency’s staff as  a literary assistant and I’ll be maintaining the weekly blog spotlighting authors among other duties yet to be determined.

Who am I?

Like many of you, I’m a writer and a reader. I’ve been reading since I was three and I’m a quick reader. I try and read five to seven novels in a week but it doesn’t always work out. I’ve been known to read a novel in two hours.

I grew up reading science fiction and fantasy first then moved onto other genres. When I was fifteen I decided to  use the list of 100 classics from my local library and read those. It took me a while but I’m proud to say I made it through their list.

One of my favorite authors is Anne McCaffrey, a SF/F author who wrote The Dragonriders of Pern among others. Her Harper Hall Trilogy is one of my faves.

I write young adult and adult speculative fiction. I’ve dabbled in MG and picture books but YA is my favorite genre both to read and write. However, I do love to read cozy mysteries and have written two. I am published with small presses and self-published. I am seeking representation.

I’m a pop culture fanatic and a Whedonist. I’m also a Whovian (Tennant is my Doctor), am Sherlocked and Hiddlestonian.  My fave TV show at the moment is iZombie. Past TV shows I’ve loved: Veronica Mars, Wonderfalls, Firefly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Gilmore Girls, Dark Angel, Being Human (the BBC version), Broadchurch (of course), Wire in the Blood, Inspector Lynley, Endeavour, Inspector Lewis, Midsomer Murders, Robin Hood, Ripper Street, Musketeers, Doctor Who. Torchwood—pretty much most BBC dramas.

I have two cats, one is a new kitten who’s still getting the lay of the land and one is an older cat who thinks the kitten is annoying and has too much energy (she does).

I have a Master’s in Children’s Literature with an emphasis on creative writing for YA.

I’m on Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr, Facebook and I have a website (see links below). Feel free to reach out to me on social media.

I’m excited to be one of the excellent staff at Seymour!

Take Care,
Kathleen
